Requesting your comments on the below 2010 California Room Planning!
The California GCSA is starting the planning of the 2010 California Room in San Diego, CA.
The CGCSAA Board is considering charging Members an admission fee for the California Room in San Diego. The Board is interested in what attendees think about a door charge to aid in recovering costs for the event, and assuring adequate funds for research, which is funded solely from this annual event.
The affiliate sponsors will not be charged an admission fee.
When the 2004 California Room was held at Dick's Last Resort in San Diego, CA , there were 899 attendees. The largest number of attendees in the history of the California Room and the cost was double the average California Room.

Thanks Bob,
ReplyDeleteI think a $10.00 cover charge is not too much to ask?

Hey Anonymous Bowman,
ReplyDeleteDoesn't attaching your last name to this post sort of negate the anonymous part?
Anyway, I don't like the prescedent of starting to charge for this event. I understand the reason, but I still don't like it.
Charging for the california room would be a bad thing. If you want people to attend it has to be free and worthwhile. The only way it is worthwhile is if the numbers are high enough to promote networking
ReplyDeleteI have always wondered why there has not been a charge. Too many rely on the vendors to throw money at a party where most attendees could not tell you who the sponsors are. Business as usual needs to change at every level.
